In 2009 we decided to move our flock toward a more moderate framed lamb with lots of wool and shag. Our search was ended quickly by a trip to Dean Caven's. When we first laid eyes on this stout, rugged made, muscle packed beast we knew he was the one to fit the bill. After Dean told us how he was bred it was just icing on the cake. Ammo's twin brother (pictured at right) was Reserve Grand at 2009 Fort Worth Stock Show. Ammo himself has produced our very popular NAILE Market Lamb Momma sale ewe (the only female sold this year out of him) for $2600 in his first crop, as well as many other consistently high placing lambs.

Change was our pick of the bucks at Cabaniss' production sale in 2008. He had a loin edge like a 2"x8" as a lamb, which is the piece we needed to add to our puzzle. He continues to throw this aspect into his offspring consistently without sacrificing the skeletal structure we want to keep in our sheep. Additionally, he is moderate in his bone and foot size (as are most of our stud rams) because we still want our sheep to be easily lambed yet still have enough bone and foot size for durability and longevity. |
